About the event
What fun this will be!
Grouyan Gombo is a Montreal, QC. band whose music is rooted in the rich Cajun and Creole traditions of southwest Louisiana. The band’s sound travels between ballads, two-steps, and waltzes influenced by country, Cajun, and zydeco music. Grouyan Gombo’s first CD “Betsy Stomp” was named runner up by The Cajun French Music Association for best release from outside Louisiana and the band’s latest release “Pouyaille” was nominated for a Lys Blues Award. For this special event, Grouyan Gombo will be a six-piece band (accordion, twin fiddles, guitar, bass, drums), with fiddler Catherine Planet leading an introductory workshop on the Cajun two-step and waltz. Allons danser!
