About the event

Anna brings her East Coast roots to the stage to ring in the season.

Anna is from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and has played her fiddle to captivated audiences throughout North America and Europe for over twenty years. Having collaborated with some of eastern Canada’s most renowned artists, in 2005 she became the principal fiddler for the Juno nominated critically acclaimed production DRUM! and has just finished a 15 month run with the hit and award-winning show ‘COME FROM AWAY’ the Toronto production. Outside of theatre work Anna is influenced by her working-class Celtic ancestry, and fuses the traditional Cape Breton music of the Scottish Gàidhealtachd with a modern percussive vibe. While weaving other cultural influences into her music, this multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and song-writer uses her dynamic performances to give listeners a modern taste of history and culture. She is a successful solo artist singer/songwriter having been nominated for an East Coast Music Award and a Music Nova Scotia Award for her first album Reel to Reel. Her second album ‘Wherever You Go’ was just nominated for a 2019/2020 East Coast Music Award. Recently, Anna was the 2020 winner of the Ottawa Capital Music Award for solo artist of the year!

Wherever You Go” is the life story put to music of Anna Ludlow. Her career has taken her all over the globe and the essence of that journey flows through the tunes and songs of this album. Her playing is amazingly clear and fresh. Her heart and soul comes through in her passionate delivery of every note. This is not your average album, it is well thought out and flawlessly delivered. You can hear the pride of her heritage and skill of her years of touring in top billed productions throughout. Being mixed and mastered by Dave Gunning and the Wee House of Music only adds to the quality of this body of work.  It is a "must own" for any serious collector of East Coast Celtic music.-Phill McIntyre, New England Celtic Arts

Gail Gavin has been performing for decades opening for many Nashville stars like George Jones, Tom T. Hall, Merle Haggard and Charlie Pride, and has performed at almost every fair in the Ottawa Valley.  In 1993, she hosted "Gail Gavan and Friends"  on CHRO Pembroke and co-produced and wrote the theme song for another TV show, "Fred's Place", based on her uncle Fred's famous hotel in Chapeau, Quebec. It aired nationally, winning an Independent Producer's Award in Jasper, Alberta. This lead to her becoming the co-host for CBC's "Cottage Country" which had 1/2 million viewers nationally each week!
